Davina and Daniel residency at HIAP

Davina and Daniel are currently artists in residence in the island of Suomenlinna in Helsinki with HIAP until the end of August. Possible ideas for residency include:

-To hold A Mass Picnic on the Suomenlinna.

-To make A Mobile Collection Trolley, used to collect items - objects and memories - from islanders, these to be shown in A Temporary Museum, to be hosted by one of the museums on the island.

-To have a meal with each family living on the island.

-To plant English flowers on the island.

-To make Davina and Daniel Flags, and locating these around the island to mark our residency.

-To create sign posts on the island, with details of where people have traveled from to be on the island.

-To ask people to tell Davina and Daniel a Finnish custom - concerning marriage, food, etc - the customs to be presented at the Customs Museum.

-To collect stories from people using the island ferry.

-To create a refuge - a safe place - perhaps next to one of the fortress canons ?

-To make a Mobile Seed Box, and invite residents to plant a flower seed, either in a flowerpot, or directly in the soil.

-To conduct tours of the island based on residents’ personal histories, and memories of the island.
